Painting with Light is a workshop series that Amanda Sage offers a few times a year in unique destinations around the world. Based on fundamental techniques, truths and tools that are the foundation of any successful work of art, her teachings are rooted in Renaissance painting and translated into contemporary mediums. She teaches in the same way that she approaches her own work, with an open heart and deep commitment. The time that we spend in creative union is one of the most valuable things we can do for our own healing and living a healthy life. Making Art is not something that is only limited to painting, drawing, sculpture… she believes it is a WAY of life, a perspective, a lens through which we have the choice to live in this life. We will begin by observing what is, expanding our outer lens. As we push the boundaries of what can be, we will draw in the visionary realms of infinite potential.

 

Each participant will be guided through the process of an acrylic painting, from start to finish, with a variety of exercises, demo’s and lectures throughout the week. The focus in our paintings will be on the abundance and beauty of the natural world, though portraits and figurative work is also encouraged if desired. Conceptually we will follow an in-direct painting method similar to the Mischtechnik which classically uses egg tempera and oil paint in glazes. Due to humidity and drying times we will use high pigmented fluid Golden acrylics instead and achieve similar results.

 

Amanda studied painting in Vienna, Austria under the guidance of Michael Fuchs during a 2 year apprenticeship when she was 19, which led to 10 years as an assistant with the master artist Ernst Fuchs. She helped found the Vienna Academy of Visionary Art in 2013 and has spent the past 10 years sharing her work worldwide in exhibitions, festivals and Live Painting. Amanda teaches annually at Alex & Allyson Grey’s Art Sanctuary in New York as well as the summer seminar in Italy, hosted by VAVA. She also helped initiate the Art in Paradise workshop series in Byron Bay, Australia and teaches annually in Los Angeles.
